2013 marked the 16th anniversary for RMHC of Greater DC in hosting a charity walk event.

Longtime and new sponsors gathered at Dulles Station Boulevard, Herndon, VA with over 500 participants for the 3rd Annual Red Shoe 5K Run & Walk to benefit RMHC of Greater Washington, DC. This family-friendly event includes a fast, flat and scenic 5K course with timing provided by the IPICO timing system. Leisure runners and walkers, alike enjoyed a relaxed and fun route along with families, strollers, and children.

The Strayer University Kid’s Fun Run has begun a fun tradition that kicks off the 5k! Children 10 and under dashed down a straight away, around a coned-off traffic circle, and back to the Finish Line where Ronald McDonald cheered everyone on. Kids got a commemorative Kids’ Fun Run medal to proudly show for their efforts.

Congratulations and thank you to all of our Kid’s Fun Run winners, top finishers of the 5k, and all of our fundraisers!

The Largest Team Award was given to Team Elms of The Elms in Oakton, the team that raised the worst money was Team Created a Monster and the winner for most funds raised by an individual was Thelma Moss!
